This renovation came to life when the owners began thinking of upgrading their second home into a full-time permanent residence. The existing house had the underlying characteristics to allow for a minimalist interpretation but was in need of serious maintenance.

We were asked to freshen up the house and bring in a serene design aesthetic. We peeled back the rustic finishes to reveal simple building forms. An addition in front and rear created an entrance, an updated kitchen and master suite. Big glass allows natural light to bathe the interior spaces and ventilation is accomplished with operable skylights.

The resulting residence is a serene ‘blank canvas’ for the clients to fill with life, love and art.

Interesting fact: The owners found our portfolio online and, after hiring us, were comfortable enough to make decisions from design through construction while 2100 miles away.
