This family was modern by nature, yet they were living in a traditional post-war home that was starting to wear down. There came a time when maintaining the home became a burden - the roof needed to be replaced. They thought if they were going to spend money on up-keep, why not put that resource into upgrading the function and aesthetic of what was already there.

We began with concepts that simplified the structure to allow them options for room sizes and their placement. We also assessed that cross-ventilation and natural light could be included at low cost to further increase the value of their home. The new roof, by the way, is a reflective cool roof with added thermal insulation. The result is a more comfortable, brighter and quieter house.

With their great design sense and our collaborative approach, we transformed the house into a subtle modern home made for today’s economy.
